The Amazing Story: Why Tulsidas Wrote It?

The story says that a long time ago, the Mughal Emperor Akbar called Tulsidas to his court. Akbar asked Tulsidas to show a miracle, but Tulsidas said, “I have no miracles, only devotion to Rama.”

Because of this, Akbar put Tulsidas in a prison. While he was in jail, Tulsidas started writing songs for Hanuman Ji to help him. He wrote 40 lines of praise, which we now call the Hanuman Chalisa.

The Miracle: It is believed that as soon as he finished the prayer, a huge army of monkeys attacked the prison and the city. Akbar realized his mistake and released Tulsidas immediately.

Why is it so Popular Today?

Tulsidas wrote the Chalisa in Awadhi language so that every common person could read and understand it. Before this, many prayers were only in Sanskrit, which was hard for everyone to speak.
